38th Pune International Marathon 2024 is premium Marathon event in India. Since 1983, thousands of runners from all walks of life have taken part in the event. Pune International Marathon is now widely used as a platform to spread social message and to raise fund for charitable cause. Pune International Marathon route consist of city of Pune’s scenic and historic locations with thousands of spectators lining up the course to cheer runners. It is the most anticipated running festival of city of Pune.
A bright Sunday morning in September 1983 saw thousands of people participating in the very first Pune Marathon – a run for fun and fitness. Within just three years it grew into a great event on the international sports calendar. The first time a balding Swedish School teacher Tommy Pesson beat all opposition to the finish line.
The marathon lovingly remembers the Tanzanian soldier Stewan Marwa who almost missed taking part and went on to win. And our own long distance runner, Savio D’souza, who overcame physical setback to win the race ! It has indeed been a tribute to men’s achievements, a saga of success, a test of endurance. Let’s go back a little and relive the unforgettable moments of tears and triumph.
